AUGUST 18, 2008 I got BIT by the Fashion Fever Barbie bug!!! I love the new Barbie play line, although they have dropped the words "Fashion Fever", I still consider them Fashion Fever dolls. I love the use of the MiKelman Charice knock-off head mold on the new Day To Night Barbie, and my favorite head mold is the MiKelman Sweden Candi head mold that is used on most of the Raquelle dolls, as well as the new Mermaid and many other Barbies. The new Halloween Barbie is fantastic, also enjoying all the Fashion Fever dolls from the past few years that I missed. I am swapping heads tho, as I prefer the new belly button body with the articulated wrists!!!! Don't care too much for the short n squat body that I believe has been discontinued.
Lots of RE-ISSUES coming our way, 1985 Rocker Barbie, 1977 SuperStar Barbie, and, UGH, ANOTHER re-issue of Malibu Barbie. This re-issue of Malibu Barbie tells me they are NOT asking collectors what they want, as absolutely NO ONE would ever suggest that horrible doll be re-issued again. She is a nightmare. And boring re-issue of yet ANOTHER Enchanted Evening, Solo In The Spotlight, and Plantation Belle. It is almost as tho they don't realize that Barbie had LOTS more fashions to chose from. What about Magnificent? Fabulous Fashion? Sunday Visit? Theatre Date? Dinner at 8? or JUNIOR PROM, ON THE AVENUE, HOLIDAY DANCE! FRATERNITY DANCE! ABOARD SHIP!!! MIDNIGHT BLUE! GOLDEN GLORY!!!!DEBUTANT BALL! I could make a list a mile long without repeating those fashions they do over and over and over........PLEASE, someone WAKE Mattel's designers up!!!! And a SILKSTONE #1 Barbie? UGH!!!!! Not another doll with that dreadful SHANI toro, this means NOTHING will fit them but that awful REPEAT of the striped swimsuit. Nothing new under the sun at Mattel for the 50th Birthday of Barbie. Give me PLAYLINE Barbie any day over the collector line of anerexic, ANGRY, thin lipped dolls, all with WARPED torsos, one leg longer than the other, and that arthritic thumb! eeeeeyuck. Let's see if SuperStar and Rocker have the original body or will they subsitute the Shani body? We'll wait and see.
Convention 2009 Once again convention has been given to Nancy Parsens, please keep this in mind, WE WILL BOYCOTT THIS EVENT! May we remind you that it was Nancy Parsens and Dorinda Balanecki that stole and used MiKelman's Charice gown (Used it for that hideous Midge doll they did in Florida National Convention) and refused to pay him for his work. Dorinda pathetically pointed the finger at Nancy and claimed she had nothing to do with stealing the pattern or fashion. We are asking National Convention Steering Committee/Nanzy and Dorinda to PAY US the $1,500.00 fee for use of MiKelman's design. We are also asking DORINDA BALENCKI to be honest are return the $1,500.00 we paid her for the pattern, as she signed a contract that she would NOT use the patterns again. We'd ask you to not buy Dorinda's dolls, but no one buys them anyway.
JUNE 27 2008 And yet another collection has graced our shop! We just acquired a HUGE collection belonging to Frieda Bilz of Kentucky. Frieda is a member of the Tri-County Club. Frieda collected every doll imaginable from antiques to modern. She had one room in her home devoted to just Barbie. We went down to get the Barbie Collection and ended up with ALL the dolls, 3 trips later!!! Sorting this collection out in the warehouse is going to take SOME time. We did go ahead and list some things on ebay, like the BLYTHE doll, currently bringing nearly $700.00 in bids. We will be listing TONS of Barbie from vintage to modern, as well as TONNER, Alexander, Candi, Charice, Rosebuds, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Celebrity Dolls, Lady Di, porcelains, near 100 Ginnys, Shirley Temples, Gene, Crissy Family, Sunshine Family....the list is endless. You can check out MiKelman's ebay listing, just click on the button we have provided at the left side of your page. Barbie A-Z NRFB is also now listed at the side buttons under BARBIE DOLLS. I will add to the list as we sort. Enjoy!!! Also enjoy our AD in the recent DOLL READER!!!!
May 4, 2008 We did the Hare Arena Show in Dayton, Ohio over the weekend. They were hoping to ad a doll crowd and dealers to the show. Obviously it did not happen. Doug was there and Cindy, but no other dealers. It just wasn't much of a show for dolls. Mostly action figures, I seen lots of GI Joes and Hemans, and a jillion Hot Wheels. Unless they can pull in more doll people, we won't be back. It is a shame as I was hoping so much for another Doll Show in this area. Dayton & Cincinnati really are hot for dolls and need the shows. I was impressed how many Toy dealers they have as compared to Doll shows. They have 4 times as many dealers in Toys as we have in Dolls. It was impressive. We sold okay, mostly vintage items. Doug seemed to sell well with pink box. Cindy had lots of vintage for sale. I saw NONE of the regulars that attend doll shows tho. I am really unsure if I want to do the fall show there. "Someone" needs to do a Barbie or doll show in that area in the fall. Hint hint.
BUY AMERICAN BUY FROM PAUL DAVID/MIKELMAN. If you took every Barbie DOLL sold since 1959 and placed them head to toe, they would circle the Earth MORE than SEVEN times. Every second THREE Barbie dolls are sold somewhere on the Earth. Talk about pollution! Do you know how long it takes a vinyl Barbie doll to decompose once she is cast into a landfill? It could take thousands of years. PAUL DAVID & MIKELMAN do NOT buy directly from MATTEL or CHINA. PAUL DAVID & MIKELMAN ONLY buy secondary market BARBIE from existing collections and individuals. PAUL DAVID & MIKELMAN are RECYCLING pre-owned Barbie dolls. We take newer dolls and pre-owned dolls, clean them, repair them and REsell them. This way the consumer only helps an AMERICAN business and is NOT part of the problem. Buying NEW & CHINA MADE Barbies from Mattel and their Gold Dealers is BEING part of the problem. BUY AMERICAN, BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION. BUY from Veteran dealer PAUL DAVID / MIKELMAN (over 30 years of being a Barbie authority) and be part of the solution. REUSE, RECYCLE, Ecology now!
